A Hub for Collaboration
Facet Architecture is proud to partner with Larson-Danielson Construction on the new MAAC Foundation Headquarters and Kathryn Hall, now under construction in Valparaiso, Indiana. This state-of-the-art expansion represents a major step forward for first responder education, providing modern facilities that foster collaboration and real-world readiness.
The 14,460-square-foot project features a two-story headquarters paired with an adjoining one-story K9 training facility. The new facility is designed to support hands-on, cross-disciplinary learning for firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and K9 units.
Spaces That Train Heroes
The new MAAC Headquarters will serve as the operational and educational core of the organization. Funded by the Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation, the building includes flexible classrooms, skill labs, simulation rooms, and collaborative work areas.
The design supports multiple modes of training. From classroom instruction to hands-on exercises, the new space will offer dedicated spaces for EMT and paramedic education on the upper floor and multi-purpose training areas for other responder disciplines on the main level.
Kathryn Hall, named in honor of Kathryn McMillan, provides a specialized indoor environment for K9 training and handler education. The facility includes a climate-controlled training space, classrooms, dog wash, and garage bays for K9 transport vehicles. These features enable consistent, high-quality training in a safe, adaptable setting no matter the season.
Architecture with Purpose
Since its founding, the MAAC Foundation has delivered more than half a million hours of training to first responders throughout Northwest Indiana. The new headquarters and training hall continue that legacy, equipping emergency professionals with the environments they need to practice, learn, and grow.
